Special Thanks to Japan Business Association of Southern California

“Go Green with Furoshiki!” project is funded as the Japan Enrichment Grant by Japan Business Association of Southern California. Integrated in level 4 Japanese class (JA4) at Irvine Valley College, students learn historical background, materials and designs, and how to use furoshiki in everyday life as an environmentally friendly tool. After practicing using furoshiki in Japanese, students will be able to show how to make a bag from furoshiki in Japanese at the end of semester. Students will share photos or videos how they use furoshiki in place of single use bag and hand down their skills to their friends and family members. There are so many contents that should be covered in JA4 every semester. I hope that this project enhances students’ motivation to enjoy learnnig Japanese language and culture.
